hello, i recently moved upwards of 10gb of music to my SD card. All are .mp3 files or .m4a files. I have an LG Volt 2 anf using Win10 as my PC OS.

I move all files for each atrist to the SD card one at a time. Connecting via USB as a portable media device. After i transfer all files. I restart my phone. And nearly 1/3 of the files are not showing up. Even though they were there before i disconnected from pc.

Its this a phone problem or SD card problem. I had accidently one time removed SD card while phone was on. Could it have damaged my SD card?

Okay i did that. Now, i noticed where the problem lies. Somewhere in the span of 20 minutes when moving the files artist by artist, during one of the transfers. i get a notice that the files cannot be copied because the device is unresponsive or has been disconnected. However, in my computer, the phone is still there. the windows that is open to the SD card is still there. i can go through all the files. But after that. everything i moved after that notice is not on the SD card. it shows that they are there before i disconnect it. But when i remove it and look at the files in my files manager. they are not there.

I have no idea what is going on

How did you reformat your microSD card? Did you do it on your Volt or on your Win10 PC?

If your card is still having read/write problems after being reformatted I'd suspect it's going bad. What brand and type is it? And how old?

Also, maybe add 'Teracopy' to your Win10 PC. It's mostly touted for being faster at copying speed but in this instance will give you listing of skipped files when there are transfer errors.

I reformatted the SD card on a Win7 PC for fat32 w/ 64Kilobytes allocation. I tried to format it on my Volt 2. But I was only given the Erase SD card option on my Volt 2 and I did that. However afterword it said the SD card had an invalid file system.

It is a ScanDisk MicroSD 32Gb and maybe no more than 10 month - 1 year old.

I will try the Teracopy program this morning and report back.

That's supposed to be a pretty good microSD card, but if you're still getting error messages like that maybe it's time to just by a replacement. Really it's amazing that those little things work out as well as they do, they're essentially just really advanced floppy disks. Inside is a similar inert storage media.

Note that when there's a problem copying a file Teracopy will let you know about it but not necessarily why.

The problem has to be with my LG Volt 2. Purchased a new 32gb sd card and used a known good 16 gb card. Still the problem persist. Out of the 23 folders of artist. Only 7-10 show up once i insert the sd card from the pc.
