Ummm, think you may have an issue with your phone, google account or something else if you can't buy paid for apps.

I, as well as loads of others, have downloaded paid apps on many occassions.

Do you really think the market has a load of paid apps about but won't let people buy them? That is crass stupidity.

May I suggest calming down, stop slanging crap at Google etc and maybe ask people for some help given that YOU are having some issues buying them.

    :D

I also can't buy paid apps.

I heard that it is not google who is responsible for this
but the phone operators for example Vodafone, Mobistar, etc.

@dajomel dude there's no issue with my phone or google account

you're just lucky you live in one of the few countries that have paid apps enabled

    see here

Paid App Availability - Android Market Help

so you see the market does have a load of "paid apps about but won't let people buy them" and yes I agree with you it is " crass stupidity"

@diS if the phone operators have issue with it then why can't i still buy apps over wifi when not using their networks?

Please accept my apologies with my previous message then :) Have to admit, was unaware of those restrictions and I guess I am used to seeing so many UK people on here that I just assumed. Oops

You setup a card onto your google account, accessible via your gmail/googlemail email address. After that it remembers so you just hit Buy, Confirm the details and Accept.

You can do it all through the phone from the first time you try to buy an app. Just follow the instructions :)

it's not whether the handset is unlocked (or unbranded) it the country of origin of the sim

i.e. if i buy a UK sim card and use it here in Ireland - it'll work and I can buy apps

The Market didn't seem to accept my Visa debit details - does it have to be a credit card?

Are you doing this on your phone or via PC? If you are entering your details on your phone it's not likely to work, so try on a PC instead

I think the OP is just rather pissed at Google on why they're restricting it to only a few locations. If you compare it with Apple, they seem to have the App Store available in a lot more countries, so I'm sure it's not the country's individual laws blocking the selling of apps, but just Google being lazy on their part

I didn't have any problems adding my visa debit card using the phone.

Ditto! I just Hit buy, entered my card details, confirmed payment and installed. That was all with a Visa Debit Card too.
