Not getting notifications for app updates

Anyone else have notifications for updated apps stop working? The option is turned on in Market, sync is active etc and I don't get notifications, have to manually go into Market and check the downloads list. Sometimes there will be 10 updates in there. I used to get a notification when anything had an update... Anyone know why this stopped working?

I was about to post this same question earlier on today... I have similar settings to the OP but no notifications about updated apps... pretty much every time i go into my download history, one of my apps has an update...

I only seem to get automatic updates when I first boot up. If there's one available during the day it has never alerted me. Then again I haven't gone more than a day without manually checking the market either, so maybe it only tells you after a certain period.

Mine all come in at once. I just got one tonight for six programs all at the same time. Your may be working, and you just need to install the patience widget.

I just got one tonight for a program. I run Ubuntu at home and with their latest releases rather than tell you immediately when there is an update it simply builds them up for a week and then once a week it simply pops up the updater and shows you all that its gotten over the last week (if there are any). They do this so that you're not being bugged daily with messages to update this or that. Most people who want notifications more often that this go back to the old notification area icon method that Ubuntu had previously. I'd bet that Android is doing the same type of thing to try and help lessen how often people feel the need to install updates.

I'd agree, except for the fact that I have received notifications for updates almost every single day. Hell, Remoid has updated like 4 times in the last week, IIRC....

Perhaps it has to do with how many times you actually open Market (being a n00b to all smart phones, I am like a kid in a candy store right now, currently sitting at ~100 apps installed), but if you go into Market --> Downloads then tap Menu button, check your notification setting just to be sure (something else may have turned it off).

I don't think I could find that many apps that were worth a damn... But I've been doing the smartphone thing for a long time now and I've always been the more utilitarian/corporate type user. I never even look at games.

I usually receive the updates about once a week or so. There are always 6 or 7 when I receive them so I would agree that its a timing thing as to not be bothered all the time with updates.

Similar experience here. It seemed the first few days I had my Droid that I was getting notifications for updates, then the notifications stopped.

My wife still gets them, though.

My experience has been that that market app must be running in the background to get updates. The updates don't push to the notification bar, the app has to be running and tells the bar to notify.

I was wondering this as well. In the 2 weeks I've had my phone it's come up about 5 times, usually in the middle of the night or early morning. You know you can just open the Market and go to Downloads and it shows you all updates for all installed :)
