I'm a Hero owner, and a couple of days ago I noticed I haven't received any voicemail notifications for about 2 or 3 weeks now. When I called my voicemail I had almost 50 messages. Can anybody help me and tell me how I can start receiving voicemail notifications and visual voicemail again without having to call my number?

First, have you checked your voicemail for an upgrade? IIR the most current version is 5.0.0.36

If you turn your internet on you should get your visual voicemails.

Are you not getting ANY voicemail notifications at all??? Tried powering the phone on/off?

I checked my phone for a upgrade and I have version 5.0.0.32. But my phone says there is no upgrade available.

I've also powered my phone on and off several times and I'm still not receiving voicemails.

My internet is on, I'm assuming you're talking about mobile internet and not wi-fi.

Guessing here because I have NO idea. Update your firmware to the most recent version, update your profiles and PRL.

Unless someone else has a better idea and the above doesn't work then perhaps a hard reset is in order (or get sprint to replace it).

I've updated my firmware, my profile, and my prl already. I was trying to avoid a hard reset hoping there was another way to fix the problem.

Any ideas on a way to get the 5.0.0.36 voicemail update besides through the phone. my phone says there is no update available

Are you on 2G or 3G? Turn on EVDO(3G) if it's not already on.

I'm not sure, how do I check that?

Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Network Settings > Mode of Operation

    - OR -

Look at the top notification bar when you have mobile internet turned on and see if it says "1x" or "EV"

When I go to mode of operation in mobile network settings it says hybrid.

At the top of my phone it says EV with a up and down arrow below EV

That'll work... Heard it won't work on "1x"

Read the post above you and see if that works.

Thanks Kelmar, I followed your instructions to uninstall and reinstall the voicemail and so far it seems to be working.

I am having this same issue. I thought I was killing the voicemail app by mistake using taskiller but that doesn't seem to be the case. I noticed after I got the phone that I was receiving my voicemails in big clumps every few days or once/week instead of as they were sent. I was also not getting any notification of them until I received the chunk. I tried opening visual voicemail once/day to check and see if there were messages for the last week and it said there were none, then today I received a clump including some sent in prior days. So now I know they just aren't coming through at all and the app is running. When I try to upgrade the version it says there is no upgrade available (I am at version 5.0.0.36). I also tried upgrading after unchecking the Unknown Sources bog on the application settings page. I thought I'd try deleting and re-installing anyway but I cannot find the voicemail application in my list of apps. I have one called com.coremobility.app.vnot... that has the voicemail icon next to it but I can't see how to uninstall it. When opening it I can clear the data but I do not see an uninstall button. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts not knowing if I've missed messages all the time.

Starting with some of the simple stuff just to make sure (I deal all day with people telling the the equipment is not working only to find out they unplugged it).

    *3G internet on?
    *Are you getting 3G signal?
    *Tried turning the phone off/on?
*What version phone firmware are you using?

You could try force stopping the com.coremobility.app.vnot and seeing if it's just a bug that needs reset if all of the above is correct.

Im having the same issue, im getting voicemails with no notifications. I tried to check for an update and get a general failure. When i call the vm there are a bunch of vmails, pretty wierd, dont see uninstall on the apps manager either.

    Hey Kelmar,

Thanks for the quick reply. I do have 3G internet on and am getting a signal (display has Ev with active up and down arrows). I have rebooted the phone a number of times in the past couple of weeks. I thought that it would likely download all my outstanding voicemails upon a fresh boot but that doesn't seem to work. I am on firmware version 1.5 and was having this issue even before I updated to the latest firmware several weeks ago.

According to another forum (com.coremobility.app.vnotes - SprintUsers.com) it sounds like the com.coremobility.app.vnotes app is the visual voice mail. I tried force killing it and will see if that works. I'll post an update later when I figure it out.

I force closed the com.coremobility.app.vnotes application. It did not seem to restart on its own so I shut down the phone and decided to try pulling the battery. After booting up the application was running again. I left myself a voicemail and received it a minute later. I'm not sure if forcing the app to close or pulling the battery (or both) fixed the issue (I haven't pulled the battery since a day or two after I got the phone), and I won't be convinced its fixed until I start getting voice mails consistently and not in clumps but for now I am feeling very good about this. Thanks for the advice!

Cool. I've never had a problem with mine so I would assume that the script for the voicemail just froze up. Good luck!

This appears to be a big issue. I had the same issue. Uninstall Vnotes, and reboot the phone. It will auto install upon reboot. Then do the software update and it should work. Sprint could not figure this out after an hour on the phone.

    Hey jay24k -

How do you uninstall vnotes? In the application manager I can open it up (as com.coremobility.app.vnotes) but there is no uninstall button like there is on other apps. I can force close it or clear the data, but that is it.

So far I think my force closing and pulling the battery may have worked for me but it will take a week or so of receiving voicemails before I check it off.

Should be under applications. Look for vnotes. In there it should say uninstall. It should be under menu, settings, applications. In there look for it and it should have the uninstall option. It used to be shown as com.coremobility.app.vnotes but I'm fairly certain with the update, it changed it to plain ole "voicemail". Click it, uninstall it. Reboot the phone and manually launch it. I just checked mine and it did change to voicemail but look for both. I stopped it first using task killer. Task killer will show it as vnotes.

I think thats the problem, atleast for me I don't have anything called vnotes, only the com.coremobility......, and when I try to update I get a general failure error, so more than likely I don't have whatever update there is for the vm.
