Hi guys, I have been scouring the internet for the past few months trying to find a good android tablet - I had originally been waiting for the new nexus 10 but it has became quite evident that this won't happen anytime soon. I am having a toss up whether to buy the 18 month old nexus 10, or a newer tablet to future proof myself in essence. I think I am going to go for a newer tablet, as I fear the nexus 10 may stop getting updates soon.

Quality 10 inch android tablets seem few and far between, and I don't want to buy one just for the sake of it. The ones that do stand out however are the Note 2014 and the upcoming TabPro 10.1.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but I am struggling to find what the main differences are between the 2 tablets. Am I right in saying that the Note 2014 is infact a higher spec than the TabPro - despite being released several months earlier? What are the pricing differences? What are the performance differences, and any differences in spec, and which would people buy for the money?

I think the Note 2014 comes with a stylus pen, and the TabPro doesn't which would be helpful to me being a university student in the UK and taking notes, etc.

Has anyone got any useful advice on these tablets - or suggest any other devices?

I would like a tablet mainly for:
    - Watching films and media content - so a good screen would be ideal
    - General internet surfing
    - Decent storage (but I know the Samsung tablets have removable media which would be EXTREMELY useful)
    - A half decent camera for when I would need it
    - Good performance (I have used some galaxy tablets in the past and noticed their slow/poor performance)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance!
    CK

I am in the exact same boat as you. I actually looked over the Note 10.1 2014 vs the TabPro 10.1 yesterday. I would agree that the Note 10.1 has better specs but the TabPro has KitKat. The Note 10.1 has more ram according to Samsung's webpage, which, IMO, is a big deal. In the States the TabPro 10.1 is the same price as the Note 10.1. I assume KitKat is on it's way for the Note 10.1, but who knows.

I work with a couple of people that went to CES last month and they played with, I believe, the NotePro which has the same guts as the Note 10.1 and they said it was really fast.

I'm giving Google through the MWC and if a new Nexus 10 doesn't come out by then, I'm buying the Note 10.1 2014.

I would buy again definitely! Why anyone would consider the tab pro over the note 2014 is beyond me. The note has more RAM and the S Pen. I wouldn't even consider the 12" screen that's too big.

If you don't need the stylus to take notes and price isn't a big factor I would get the ipad air. If you want the stylus then get the note 10.1 2014. The only reason to consider the tab would be over price concerns

Price wise the older Samsung 10.1 note is a great tablet with a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Processor. runs plenty fast IMHO.

Now the newer Samsung Galaxy Note
