I got scammed and bought a note 3 clone.... Its not that bad but the wifi barley works and wont even play youtube video. The data connection is only a little better. Is there anything I can do to make the wifi work correctly? I've looked into installing a custom rom but don't know if this is a viable solution. So far i'v managed to root the phone.

    Antutu benchmark: scored a 13513 compared a real note 3 at 34652.

    Speed test: 0.17 Mbps

I bought it in America and yes I paid close to original. It was sold to me as a high copy international Korean version. I see the same thing online going for about $150 and I paid more then twice that. I might be able to get 150 or more on ebay but without the wifi working I wouldn't expect more then $100.

any suggestions for how to make it work?

If you were told its not an orignal phone, your not scammed. This is how it should meant to work.

The international Korean version does about 550 on ebay and thats what I was told I was buying. The phone I bought is not that version, it is a piece of junk and can be purchased all over the internet for $150. So someone selling me this for $400 when I trusted them and had no knowledge of note 3's definitely swindled me out of my money.

    Any ideas about the wifi?

I doubt any one here can really help you, and for what it is worth I'm sorry you appear to have been scammed.

I woud need the device in my hands to try and help . As it is not any legitimate version of a Samsung Note 3 it could be running any hybrid OS. :(

The wifi problem is hardware. And replacing the parts to make it work would just be throwing good money after bad.

Depending on where in the US you bought it, the seller may be guilty of a few crimes, and an assistant DA might convince him to negate the sale and refund your entire purchase price.

it was a copy.. and that is where YOU went wrong.
expecting too much from a copy. they cut corners to make it cheap.

you are lucky to be able to root it. and not have issues.
if you try a ROM made for the NOTE.. that is a very very bad idea.
super high chance of totally breaking that COPY/NOTE.
all the drivers and system files are designed for the real NOTE.
that means it will NOT work for your COPY. and fail.. and most likely not boot back up!

you have to contact the real builder of this device.. and ask them if they have updated software to improve your situation. but I highly doubt they care and have done any support development.

    long story short...U SOL.
    expensive lesson learned.
    sorry.
