I have a well maintained Samsung galaxy note tablet 8 inch, can I install on it a newer version of Android so I can run any app on it or it's impossible?

you would need to root it. but your device is so old i doubt that any of the files needed to root would work. as the developers usually has a file sharing site, which can cost money to post....so overtime the devs stops supporting those files.......so you might be sol.....better to just get a new device.
