I was looking at the features of the phone online and it shows that you can get the contact picture of someone who text messages you when recieve a message. I was wondering how you enable this. Thanks!

Galaxy Nexus

Open "contacts," find the person you want to add a picture to, click on menu, then edit, then click on the picture image. Link your contact to a photo on your phone. Now when that person calls or texts you their photo will appear in the log. For contacts with no photo or texts from persons not in your contacts you get the cartoon image of a head and shoulders.

I have contact pictures for all of my contacts. But they do not pop up in my notification bar like it is shown on the website

The don't "pop-up" in the notfication bar but they do show in the messaging (stock) app, provided you have selected the photos for your contacts as described by jclake.

He is referring to this picture:

The senders picture pops up on emails but not on texts. I assume it is because I do not use the stock message app - I use Hancent. I only see the handcent logo.

However, like the picture, if I have more than 1 new message, it just lists the number of new messages. But if only one new message is there, I see their picture.
