Hello all! I'm new to the forums and am loving all that I am learning (and downloading!).

Right now I am running, on my Samsung Fascinate, Go Launcher EX with Windows 7 icons and text labels in the dock. I wanted to somehow match my notification bar at the top with my black background and was wondering if there was a way to do it in GO. I had it autohide but I find that I rely on it for things and was constantly swiping it down and checking it. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

I have the same them and icons as you do but on the evo.

I wanted my dock to be black so what i did was download a black wallpaper and for each icon below i changed the icon to a custom icon and selected the black walpaper i downloaded. It gives you the black looking dock. it looks as if nothing is there (but really they are just black icons)

That is what I did for the dock, but I was wondering about the notification bar (at the top).

Anyone know if there is something to help with that without rooting the phone?

oh you mean to completely remove the notifications/information in the status bar? sorry I misread that. I'm not sure you can. i don't think i've ever seen that. That might be to integrated into the OS to remove, but then again im not sure. Your best bet is going to be rooted. I don't think you can do such a thing without being rooted.

im 99.9999999.......% sure you have to be rooted for it to make it simpe by just rooting. Still, there is a chance to do it with adb. Idk. Why dont you root? Jw. Even if it voids your warranty, just go stock.

You can remove the notification bar with ADW Launcher without root and with the free version. You can just remove it temp of course or set a finger gesture to hide/unhide it on command. I know that there are themes for ADW also but I've never used any of them. Most of them are too busy for my taste.

I basically want a notification bar to stay there but instead of a grey background I'd like a black background on the stock icons.

How can I do a screen shot to show my current set up. That might help the explanation.

Yeah thats what I'm looking for... but MetaMorph says "Market apps not supported..."

Does that mean that I can't install through the market (i use Appbrain anyways) or that only third party apps will work?

Ahh I think I found something in the same thread:
    "
Go into the /data/app directory, select the facebook apk (com.facebook.katana ?), and copy it.

Navigate to the /system/app directory, select Mount R/W at the top, paste that apk into the directory, and rename it "Facebook.apk". Exactly like that, including the capital F.
Make sure to select that same button again at the top, but now it says Mount R/O.

    "

This seems like a get around for the market v. non-market apps... correct?

I've never used it not sure about the specifics. But it sounds like Market apps just don't get themed? Not sure. I would go ask some questions on their website if they have a Forum. After checking the official site is down. Thats never a good sign. Probably not under development anymore.

If I was you I would just hide the dang thing instead of going to all this trouble just to make the bar black. Look at the ADW themes and see if any change the bar. Although I think its mainly icons, text and backgrounds.

Thanks, yeah I've resorted to just hiding it and putting a gesture on to bring it down.
