Help Notification not working thru data

Hi,
Please can can anyone help me?
2 weeks ago my Galaxy S3 stoped notifing me when I get an email or ebay sale/question when I am away from wifi.
When I have a wifi connection it works perfectly.
I run an online shop and I need to fix this problem as soon as possible. I only bought the phone so that I could respond to customers quickly when I am away from my office.
If anyone has any ideas on how I could fix this, I would be very greatfull.

I forgot to mention that I can still use the internet when not on a wifi connection, so I can still recieve data but no notifications.

I dont know too much about phones so Im not sure what you mean by rooted?
I will see if I can find out what version Im on and let you know.

The answer to root is no . but if a update is available that wouldn't have any problem with your notifications. Can I ask what email app or client are you using . Gmail or the hotmail etc

Since gmail has so many problems I need you to go to the play store to see if app needs updating . if not I need for you to see if gmail is checked to sync .

Settings>scroll down to accounts > tap the g or Google do you see a red flag or anything Red in Google

Maybe you have found the problem as both the ebay app and the gmail app need updating.
Im sure it is set to sync.
I will update them and see if it fix's the problem.

You can do automatic update over WiFi saves carrier data charges

I have updated them and now turned off the wifi so ill see if it has worked

The updates have not solved the problem.
I still can not received notifactions when on mobile data from ebay, paypal or gmail.
the internet works and can receive whats app messages.
What could the problem be?

Nothing from sd card but phone data will be wiped.. But let's first do a wipe data and wipe cache of the gmail app . do a reboot when done.

sorry how do wipe the cache? I cant seem to find it in the gmail settings

Hi Brian,
I think I may have solved the problem..
After looking though just about every setting on my phone, I found that Google Play Store had a Data restriction on it. I have now taken that restriction off and I have started receiving ebay messages again. I have know idea why the google play store has any effect on ebay notifications but fingers crossed it is working again.

If you wiped the data and cache you was about to reset it to receive again. But you got it before . if you have anything else feel free to post .
