Okay so anytime I get a text message it does not show me a preview of the message in the status bar like some of my other androids have done. It only shows a message icon. Anyone know if the g5 has a way to change this on the phone??

If you're using the stock messaging app, there's a setting under notifications to show a pop-up for new messages. Is that what you're after?

I have that on. But no. I'm looking more for just in the status bar up top. Like where it doesn't interrupt me while I am on the phone but I can still see what the text says.

I don't think the LG messaging app has that option. What app were you using before that did?

When I did this it was on lg g3 and it was the default app and it worked. Should I get a third party app instead?

There is an option to preview new messages. I'm not sure what that does. But, I guess I would check out third party apps for that feature. I'm looking at Handcent right now.

Yes, there are tons of options. Hopefully there's one that will suit you. Will you please let us know if you find one that does what you want?

LG G5

The LG G5 was launched April 1st, 2016. This was some of LG’s biggest innovation yet with the introduction of dual rear cameras, always-on display, and an interesting modular design concept. The modular design never caught on.
