I bought a T-Mobile(UK) G1 on eBay yesterday and unlocked it. I have been using it happily on the O2 network all day.

This morning the integral earpiece on the phone was fine, all my calls were crystal clear. Apart from installing a couple of applications nothing has changed, ie hasn't been dropped etc.

Suddenly this afternoon I made a couple of calls (to land lines with excellent signal) and the sound was so badly distorted that it was hard to understand people. I tried adjusting the volume, but it is present at all volumes.

The sound is like speakers being driven too hard, distorting peoples voices so badly that they sound like they are speaking through a 'comb and paper'. I have tried using the earpiece, and the sound is crystal clear through the earbuds.

Rebooting, and fully re-charging it haven't done the trick. I also used a manual dust blower to see if it was something vibrating in the grill.

Can anyone suggest anything? The phone is virtually unusable!!!!!!!
