Has anybody found an app that will just let me use a numeric password to lock my Desire?

Pattern lock is a great idea, but you end up with the pattern being visible if you don't wipe it down all the time, and that drives me crazy!! :D

    Thanks to all.

apparently, you can switch to the numeric lock in the phone's settings.

I recall something about people not being able to switch back though, so you might want to search the forum about that before you switch. I dunno if they found a way to do it because I didn't plan to turn mine off & stopped reading.

I think that is related to people using Exchange, which apparently changes the locking behaviour. I haven't seen such a setting, that's for sure.

I didn't understand how the pattern becomes visible?
I just tilt the phone towards me slightly before I unlock, so no one sees the pattern..

I think Archphoto means that you can see the swipe pattern line stain on the glass - if you have greasy fingers. I used to get this - but now I put my Desire in my pocket glass first so it's pretty much wiped clean all the time.

Yup greasy fingers - a bain on my Desire!!!

No I haven't been able to find a setting either. Anybody have an app they could recommend that would solve this problem?

I've had a search on AppBrain and the Market, but so far it's all been apps to lock other apps - not at all what I need. Surely locking the phone will achieve the same thing, right? ;)

    Or I can hope (in vain perhaps) that it is included in 2.2 . . . . . . . :D
