Settings > Wireless & Networks, and uncheck "Mobile Internet"

or add the "Mobile Network" widget under Settings (when you long-hold an area of your home screen), this adds a toggle button to your home screen so you can turn it on and off as you please

    A couple of ways:

Keep on pressing the back button until you have exited the browser (can be a bit of a pain).

Put the wifi and mobile icons on your desktop so you can disconnect/connect with one press.

ETA: Or, indeed, what StevenSeed said. (He's too fast for me. :))

Switching the phone off and back on again should do the trick.

If you turn your phone off with data on it will still be enabled when you switch it back on.
