Hello forum, How is everybody doing? I am new here and I registered since the forum is so interesting and I have so much to learn from all you guys. I am a Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (MK16i) user. And for my question, is it possible to download the stock ROM and all its information to your desktop PC so if you root and one day you need to send the phone out for repair, you can just unroot and download the stock ROM so then your phone would be back to the regular state you bought it and not void the warranty? I am an IT Technician so this to me sounds possible as in the same was as a Windows Image file would be used to reimage a computer. Please let me know if this is possible before rooting and if there is a simple way or any other suggestions please share. Thanks in advance
Not sure..I have never heard or seen that phone. Looks kind of like the Xperia Mini Pro. I would maybe suggest checking at: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro - Android Forums Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini & Mini Pro & Active - xda-developers You probably need to use some sort of flashtool to load the ROM you download, then flash the phone with it.....and at that point, root as well.
I think an easier way would be to have SEUS installed on your computer and if the need arises, connect your phone to it and use it to get the stock software back on your phone via "repair installation", which will also unroot your phone by default.
Hello guys. Thanks for the repling to both of you. Yes the SE Xperia Pro is a fairly new phone. It is supposed to be a bigger version of the Xperia Mini Pro. The SEUS option sounds like the easier way to go for a n00b like me lol. So how would the SEUS program know what apps and setting the phone had at the time of purchase? Just want to learn a little more about it. Here is a picture of what its supposed to look like, its the one furthest to the bottom. We should get a section for that phone on the forum Thanks again guys! You're awesome
I don't know the specifics on exactly how that works, but it does **Update** I found this thread on XDA, I think you might want to check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872298
That thread is pretty interesting. Although it doesn't have my provide (FIDO) it has Rogers which is the owner of FIDO as well. So I guess that should work probably I am still a little confused. I think this will be my last question for you for this thread lol Is the SEUS software made to recover SE X10 devices or any android device? Thanks again
I will mess with my phone tons this week then, knowing I can just restore it Thanks for all your help
yea... i've seen this phone, looks good, it is the same size as the xperia play but with a full keyboard instead of the game pads maybe it is canadian exclusive?
OverjoyedDroid - did you end up finding out where you can get a copy of your stock rom? If you have copy or know where to get one please let me know. I messed up my phone and need to restore it. MK16a or MK16i will both be ok for me.
Hi, This is my first post here but I've been active over at XDA for a while. I have the Xperia Pro as well. It is in NO WAY the same as the X10, or the MINI or MINI Pro. It's it's own phone, model MK16a or MK16i depending on where you live. As such you cannot use a firmware recovery meant for those other phones on the Xperia Pro...it simply won't work because they're DIFFERENT PHONES. It's exclusive to Canada and some Asian countries for the moment. But Europe is supposed to be getting it within the month. No idea about a US release. Because it's so new there's not many people/hackers with it yet, so getting a proper firmware might be hard. But we can try! I started a thread last week about how to root the phone, and we finally managed a way to do it yesterday Checkout this thread h t t p : / / forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286885 There are other Xperia Pro users on there, including I notice ichidakira just posted about getting a firmware. So between us we should be able to help you. I agree, Android Forums should get its own forum for the Xperia Pro MK16a/i. We're trying to get one on XDA as well
Thats exactly what I am looking for. Stock firmware so I can flash on my phone. I dont really care about rooting or anything. Can anyone help?
I tried it but PC Companion wont recognize my MK16a so it wont download the firmware that I need. If someone that has either a MK16a or MK16i that can download the firmware for me and make it into a ftf then I can flash it back to live. Anyone??
I think this is what you need Sony Ericsson txt pro - Update Service - Downloads - Mobile phones - Support - Sony Ericsson
Did you bother to try it? Clearly they are in the same family so it wouldn't be surprising if that's the version that recognizes your phone and can update it. But it's on you, I tried.
The pro is now on the se website since its coming out here pretty soon, if not already, so i went to the downloads section under that phone and pc companion was there, meaning its whats used to restore the firmware on it. Have you been on the se website? That would have been my first stop.
