Hi, i'm currently an iphone user, and my 2 yrs contract is finished so it's time to change phone , iPhone 4 is nice but I need a bigger screen as I always read ebooks and surf the net... Not to mention watch anime movies...just saw the desire hd leak report yesterday and this suddenly jumped at the top of my list, over htc desire, galaxy s and iPhone 4...so I'm really looking at the release date on this phone.... if it's around October, i can wait for it...December would be too much though... now, if someone can advice me on a good app that play mkv format in android then this would be perfect!

its almost certain to be around october. but as for the mkv app im not too sure. You might want to find a video converter.

    Looks awesome :D

And if it uses the new Snapdragon, the battery should be better too!

Shame about the resolution though :(

Interested to see what carriers this phone is coming to or if its coming out in the United States or not.
  7. Jammy

    Jammy Android Expert

It depends on the 3G bands it has.

The current Desire works on 2G on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US< but not 3G. This could well be the same.

Here in the UK, I expect it to be similar to the Desire and come out on all networks.

Would be unfortunate for me :-( edge is quite slow for data. I understand it probably wouldnt coming to united states, since desire hd seems to be quite similar to the htc evo thats out here in the US already

Looking forward to this phone, been wanting to get my giant hands on a 4.3inch screen since I heard about the EVO. It's between this and the Samsung Galaxy S at the moment. Probably will go for the Galaxy if it turns out not to be a new snapdragon though.

Incidentally does anyone have any information on how well the 45nm snapdragons hold up against the other 45nm processors? Or does nobody know yet?

Also leaked specs were released which confirm the 45nm processor.

The link is below, it's a chinese site but the image is in English.

I had a galaxy s phone before i just don't trust samsung to support their handsets so waiting till end of sept to see if they really do release a gps fix if not I need to look a other options. I trust htc a lot more then samsung

about the unibody aluminium body... I ve heard this rumor before as well but the picures and videos so far dont confirm that. Looks like the standard HTC plastic body to me or does anyone know better?

the greyish bit looks to be aluminium with those black plastic patches are there to allow reception to go through. Pretty much like the Legend. Personally i love the look.

It's getting more iPhoney by the day.

I'll probably trade my desire in for one though

No it isn't. Whatever made you think that?

Hi im new to android but, f it can record in 720p which is hi-def i would imagine that it would play hi-def codecs including .mkv back, just a thought though

looking good but why only 800x480 on such a large screen?
1280x720 would have been a very nice upgrade, especially with that HUGE SCREEN :)

i could be wrong, but i think the higher resolutions are supported only in Gingerbread.
  18. Doesn't appear to be an optical (or otherwise) cursor/pointer control, or am I missing it? That omission is the main reason I didn't go with a Galaxy S (rooted, of course). Any guesses as to whether there'll be a software method for accurate text editing? Bit of a deal breaker for me otherwise as I send and receive lots of email on my phones.

PS. While in Carphone Warehouse today (UK), the sales guy spotted a new SKU for the Desire HD. No release date or carrier info etc, but interesting nonetheless.

The Evo had software keys for selecting text I believe. And since this is essentially a Euro Evo I figure it will be the same. They sacrificed the hardware cursor control in order to minimise size with such a big screen.

Cool someone finally started the Desire HD section.

Anyone know which carrier it will be on? I can only get this if its on VZW.

This is going to be the European Evo, so i doubt it's coming to America. At least for now.

The Desire HD also captures 720p HD video making it the ultimate Android camera phone.
