Sorry if someone has already asked this, I simply don't have the free time to keep up with the thread.

A few pages back someone mentioned TPU cases. I've been looking for a nice case but I always see something like this:

The GT-i9250 is the UK one right (maybe?). Wasn't to US one going to be just a little thicker? Won't this conflict a bit with a lot of accessories like docks (the three prongs not lining up?) and cases? I haven't bought any accessories yet because they almost all say "SCH-i515 & GT-i9250", so maybe someone can clear something up.

Looks like a pretty cool case. The question I have is does anyone know if any cases will fit inside the docks. I have only had moto phones and the new accessories have started taking into account having a case with the pull out plastic piece. I looked at the samsung GSII and the docks it has don't seem to have this. Anyone have any suggestions?

LOL. I'm not going to fight this one to the death; as you point out the whole idea is a little ridiculous.

Reminds me of the old days on eBay where the Feedback Forum was chock full of people whose very existence seemed predicated on avoiding a Neg from some cantankerous trading partner. Didn't matter whether the poster already had 5000 Pos and the Neg would be irrelevant, it was the principle of the matter!

What, too soon for me to become a RezFanBoi, or just wrong thread? :p
Yeah, you're of course right. Sorry, I shouldn't have recommended more scripting.

Please don't sanction 3vil. Even if there was some inadvertent technical violation of forum rules, it's easily reversed and we all had a good laugh anyway. Ain't the end of the world, amirite?

Guys, I just purchased a GSM model case. Since the LTE version is only half a credit card thicker than the GSM version, this case should work on the LTE one just fine right? I mean, half a credit card is nothing.

I wouldn't count on it. Apparently the back is very different, or at least enough for a case to not fit on both.

I saw some posts earlier in the thread that there was a dock accommodating a case. I'll have to search for details if you don't find it first or somebuddy doesn't post back with it.

Also saw a day or two ago some comparisons showing the difference to be in the millimeter range in thickness, so that could be within case tolerance with no appreciable difference.

I stopped by the local Verizon (corporate) store today. I explained to a very nice and knowledgable CSR that I wanted the SGN but was concerned about missing out on the Double the Data plan if I waited and it was suddenly canceled. She suggested I buy another 4G phone, activate and use it and then exchange it for the SGN when it comes out. She said any phone I bought and activated could be returned by Jan 15th. (She did insist that she thinks the DtD plan would be available until the end of the year.)
She also replied to my question about release date that the SGN would be out Dec 8. They already had lots of accessories. Promised to call me with any news about SGN or changes in DtD plan.
I didn't buy the phone but I am seriously considering heading back to get the Rezound. as a rental.:)

i think the cases will still fit, i mean its only a thickness difference of about 1/3 the thickness of a dime. but then again, the gsm model tapers quite a bit and the lte may not have that taper to it, but may be more square in shape. have to wait and see

There was a side-by-side comparison shot of both versions posted here once, and I could tell the LTE version had a far straighter back than the HSPA+ version, which could cause some problems for case manufacturers.

Don't worry it still happens to me from time to time and I have over 600 post. That and when new news of the GNex comes out I sound like a screeching child that got what they wanted for Christmas and has to let everyone know about it even if they don't care.

My GB kernel is 2.6.35, that famous improvement hit in 2.6.37 - ICS is based on the rev 3 kernel. I'll keep looking, as I said, maybe I had that backwards, but I strongly remembered other. I was in the middle of the android kernel git when I decided it's best to just stop and reply. :D :p I'll keep looking because I recall reading it was more than that - off to the linux groups again...

    LOL

I spoke with the owner of TPU Cases about this. The case was designed for the LTE version, but the TPU material is pretty flexible and will stretch or contract for either device. The case for my extended battery bionic is incredible, so I'm trusting TPU Cases to come through on the GNex as well.

As an aside, I just received my GNex case in the mail today (ordered it on Wednesday evening).

this topic may be pretty offtopic but I don't see what is so bad about sense, moto blur, or touchwiz. Can you not just replace launcher and root and get rid of the bloatware via rooting or something? What else do the extra skins give you that i am missing ?

Yeah I bought 2 TPU cases, both apparently for the GSM model...I guess we shall see if they fit. One was 6 bucks the other was 3 bucks...Not a big deal.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty sure if you just root and slap a launcher on, the manufacturer's UI is still running a lot of stuff in the background.

On my Dinc2, for example, GO Launcher Ex was laggy until I rooted an installed MIUI. Now, with Sense completely gone, it runs very smooth and my battery life is night and day.
