I went to the Samsung store in NYC tonight as well. My god, the phone was so beautiful and sexy. You really do have to see it to do it justice.
Just a couple of points I want to share. Some blogs (see: Boy Genius) had a bit of an issue with the size, but I found it pretty easy to use 1-handed and I have smaller-than-average hands for a guy. It's certainly a lot bigger than my D2, but it still felt really good in my hand. This was really my only major concern with the phone, so it was awesome to see that it really wasn't too big at all.
Second comment is that I thought the quality of the phone was very high, despite being made of completely plastic. It's very light, but it doesn't feel like it's made of cheap plastic or anything. The cover on the back has a very nice feel to it and I didn't feel any cheapness to the phone. Coming from a D2, I was obviously in envy of the thinness of the phone. I can't wait to get rid of my D2 hardware keyboard that I NEVER use.
The screen is just beautiful, even when it's turned off. There's just something so elegant about a completely "blank" black piece of glass with no buttons or anything with just an ever-so-slight curve.
Like I said, I've seen hundreds of pictures of the phone and read 20+ reviews, but nothing can do it justice until you see it for yourself. Hopefully, we will all get that chance in less than a week!
My gf was laughing about how I was having such a nerdgasm over the phone when we were at the store, but it's just a brilliant device. I'm so in love, I'm planning to stop in at the Samsung store tomorrow to play with it again! Can't wait!
