There are several main tip lines going into Phandroid at large.

Chris is acknowledging that the claims came into the general Phandroid channels rather than to him, personally.

It's not the royal we, it's just being open and clear that all Phandroid staff is getting the feedback through the public channels, no more, no less.

    Hope that clarifies.

FWIW, when I was at my premium retailer earlier today, the manager was all excited because he was finally able to order the GNex, and said it indicated he could sell them on the 15th.

Unfortunately they are not allowed to hold them. I don't know why but they said it had to be first come first serve.

Nope. $400 isn't worth it for an extra 2 days.

Hell ya, I am paying full retail anyway, so whats another 100-150.

I could drop that extra out at dinner. I think I would enjoy having the phone sooner.

if I had 799, sure. I don't however! 299 (plus tax) is about all I can handle! :p

After all the time I have spent on the forums, when the phone does release I think my wallpaper will have to be a picture of an F5 key.

What school do you go to? You're getting a doctorate so you will be able to teach at a university or conservatory, right?

I'm switching from AT&T, though, so I'm not sure it's worth it. The only reasons I'm considering it are that I need to get in on Double Data and the fact that I'm wondering if this phone will be released at all this year at this point. If I knew for sure the release date was Thursday, I wouldn't even consider it.

If I paid full price for this one, would I still be eligible to get a phone at contract price since I didn't get one at contract price?

Why else would they keep delaying and missing their target dates if the phone is ready to go? And there is no evidence (besides pure speculation) it's to boost sales of the Razr, and plenty of evidence to point to a software issue.

EDIT: Could be a software issue or another issue that Verizon is still working to resolve. My point is that more and more missed target dates lends itself to the argument that there is an ongoing, unresolved issue with the phone.

Ummm...not sure if you're just being argumentative with me here, but obviously I meant that Chris writes for a well-known Android blog, and as such, likely has more connections in the Android world than me. It was an effort to give Chris respect and not sound like I was calling him a liar, which I wasn't.

I really think it depends on who you talk to and you go about that conversation. While they might not be "allowed" to hold it for you (and I do believe that) some would be willing to hold one. That is my experience.

I really wish they still offered the 1yr contracts. I liked that.

I believe you still could since you never signed up for a contract. I have had lines on multiple carriers and for the GSM ones I could just bring a phone in and start up service and there was no contract or ETF since it was my own phone.

If you are coming over from ATT and not paying full retail, then wait. I am sure they will sell it to you on Thursday if it comes and goes without a general release.

You won't be happy with yourself if you dropped an extra $500 for it 2 days early.

Hey, guys. Don't have much time (still working my shift) but the little "blurb" in my post isn't something I wrote just to tease or hurt anyone in this thread. Not even sure what your'e trying to imply by saying it sounds "sketchy." I've been following the Galaxy Nexus leaks and rumors since day one and every time we get closer to the RUMORED "launch date," we start receiving Phantips in our email of later dates people are hearing from Verizon employees. A few of which are now this new 20th date. The point of the "blurb" was this -- nobody has any clue when the phone will launch. Phandroid doesn't. Android Forums doesn't. I don't even think Verizon does. The tips didn't warrant a post (not until we have a screen shot or some other evidence). And to correct you -- I am not a journalist. I am an Android enthusiast who spends his time writing on a website about the thing he loves.

Hope you guys get your Galaxy Nexus soon. It seems to be making everyone nuts. o_O

    XOXO -Chris

I'm surprised Verizon didn't put out any PR news at all today. There's always tomorrow. My patience is wearing down. Steven58 I sure hope the source is dead on, or close even.

  16. Comp Science is better. Trust me. A major in the STEM field will most likely land you a job, whereas something in the arts usually won't. Even better is if you Double Major in Comp. Science and Mathematics. Alot of the courses overlap with each other, and those extra Math Courses in the Math Major will allow you to be really efficient in computer science. As for careers, it's not only Programming. You can go into software engineering, certain engineering jobs that don't require ABET Certification, Almost any type of Analyst position, as well as other paths. Technology and Science is the future. If you love music, don't turn it into a job. Trust me, I've been down that path. Turning something you love into work is the Ultimate Sin. I love cars, but I wouldn't want to work on other people's cars everyday for the rest of my life.

That is the experience I have had so far. They wouldn't even take my name at the corporate store. However, the third party Verizon kiosk at the mall here (State College) did take my name and number promising to contact me when they got an official date. So take that fwitw, I would recommend looking for a third party Verizon retailer, or Costco, RS, or BB. Good luck!:)

I'm at Michigan State, and that's exactly what I want to do! I know it'll be a slog trying to get a faculty position somewhere, but you have to go for it, right?

What was your experience like at Julliard?

Well I was thinking of maybe becoming a sort of electronic musician, whether it be for video games or being a part-time DJ or what have you. All I know is that I'm not passionate enough about CS to want to sit around and learn programming languages all day. And math is sometimes interesting but definitely not enough so for me to want to double major in that.

That window is closing fast though. It might actually make more sense to release the GN early in the new year in order to have a flagship out of the gate.

I guess we'll see. If the phone doesn't release on the 15th, I'm inclined to believe we won't see it till after the new year.

Seriously! My phone froze three times tonight within an hour! Need to get rid of this and move on to a Gnex!
