Well. We can agree to disagree.
Is tomorrow the 19th?
Looks like LG is rolling out lollipop for the G3 in Poland this upcoming week... (from Android police)
While it is good for Android in general, I bet there will be a lot of disappointed nexus users.
What's there to be disappointed about?
Hasn't one of the biggest complaints on android been how slow manufacturers are to get out updates? Its clear Moto started a fire under their butts with how fast last years x got updates. Its also possible google has been giving OEM's increased early access to get it out quicker.
On the whole that's a good thing.
Nexus owners still have open source roms, googles amazing support, and the ability to root/unlock without worrying about voiding a warranty.
If they're buying a nexus just for fast updates, they're still going to be fast. If theyre buying them to be guaranteed to have it months before everyone else - well that's changing.
Sorry, I should have been clearer... I agree that it is a good thing for the android platform.. OEMs getting their devices updated quickly is a win win.
I was referring to how many people are "upset" that motorola is doing a soak test for their phone and the nexus devices don't have that yet - hearing about another device getting updated before the nexus was likely to make their reaction stronger
No problem, I knew what you meant I didnt intend that as a direct response to you, but more of a response to those that are disappointed.
I have been checking on my play store order from time to time and now on the screen that used to say 2-3 weeks now says BY Nov 21st. The other screen still says ON Nov 21st but it does give me hope that it will ship before then.
Yeah, but this year is a bit bizarre in many respects. Limited play store stock, lollipop coming to LG and Moto phones before the Nexus is even available on 11/12. Possibly T-Mobile having the N6 before play store and moto orders even ship, etc. I'm planning on shipping 11/21 and receiving after Thanksgiving (I picked ground). Any time before that will be a nice surprise, but I'm planning on shipment 11/21
Yea. Not planning on it but it does give a little bit of hope that they might ship earlier.
Here is a list of stores getting stock and/or demos for T-Mobile
Yeah... Since it is no longer 2-3 weeks to Nov 21, it makes sense to change that verbiage. I did notice the "by" and "on" difference, and am hoping that they mean "by"
What day is launch day for Tmo? I really wanna hold one of these behemoths and see just how big it is and how she looks...list shows there will be demos in my area, well demos but no units at launch (whenever that is)...
The 12th is the official launch, but stock will be limited
IS that JUST on T-Mobile (and just the stores on the list?) or is that the official official launch date? Will other carriers have it on the 12th?
So far just T-Mobile. Just stores on list. Official for T-Mobile. And T-Mobile Jump customers get priority. No other carrier have said anything.
I'm going to go ahead and make the assumption that you will not be able to buy the N6 at T-mobile on Wednesday, paying the full non-contract price, unless you have a T-mobile account. (Previous experience)
I will give it a shot on Wednesday, there's a T-Mobile (on the list) just up the street from work. If nothing else I will get to check it out and see if I want a phone that big. It looks like if I wait and go through AT&T they are offering the $50 off the Moto360 with bundle purchase with the N6 or Moto X.
We'll see what happens. :smokingsomb:
It's my understanding that to insure excellent build quality, a large portion of the phone is hand made. While not quite as fast as a fully automated assembly line, quality takes precedent.
As a result, Google expects Motorola to have no fewer than 14 phones ready. A record breaking number by anyone's account...
(Once sane, the launch debacles of the OnePlus One and Moto Nexus 6 have taken a toll on me... Heh!)
According to that list there's only 1 store in my area carrying it lol. Wow! Its a good thing my local store is ordering the 64 GB for me.
I hope that's the truth! They won't have any stock to deal with RMAs for hardware defects....
I resend my previous statement, it seems there will be a demo unit but no retail units here in the Midwest. I'll still check it out, but obviously won't be able to buy it.
Well in my area (MS) there will be demos but no units, so i can just go check out the phone (im hoping for functional demos and not dummy units) and let ppl buy them and see how this 'universal' carrier phone is gonna work out, if it works out at all...
This is nuts. It shouldn't be so hard to buy a damn cell phone.
I agree. I already went thru the Moto360 fiasco. However, I did get one the day after release by taking a chance and driving almost 3 hours away to get it.
It becomes harder and harder to do business in this world. It's not just phones, or even goods in general. I find the older I get the harder it is to find people that are willing to earn or work for my business. Instead quite the opposite, they expect the consumer to do all the leg work and be "THRILLED" to have their product or service.
All that said, we are all terribly impatient. By Christmas these will be all over the place, at the carriers, Best Buy, Play store, Motorola dot com, etc. we all know this, we just want it yesterday.
Not only has it been difficult to get the phone, there's also still not a lot of information on whether it'll work on Verizon out of the box (it's working for the preview units, but Verizon could still block it at release time), when carriers other than T-Mobile will get it, etc.
There's really quite a lot we don't know, and I only hope to get a little more info once the embargo lifts, which is this week, IIRC.
I believe the embargo lifts Wednesday.
