Google is sending-out monthly security updates for Nexus devices...that's likely to be what you're seeing.

Coming as an OTA that applies like a system update? I thought they were going to be pushed out through the play store.

Oh, I think so, Luna--I haven't heard that they (security updates) would or could come as a Play Store push. I would think system code updates would indeed require a quiesced environment to update/patch the objects (i.e., in the same way that OTAs are applied in recovery).

I was afraid of that. :(

Even the last minimal OTA patch messed with my WiFi and Bluetooth connections.

The monthly updates are really annoying for rooted stock users.

I stayed completely vanilla stock unrooted the last time I flashed and the OTA still messed with me. Maybe it's me?

So I couldn't stay stock. I didn't root, but I did edit my build.prop to enable tethering and block ads.

Yeah, they removed that from marshmallow. It's a damn shame really, otherwise they really improved "Do Not Disturb"

Wwell I just got an update I am assuming it's the "latest (greatest? HA) security update". It's installing now. If it's M I will holla. But I doubt it. I still need to get off mah butt and install 6.0 I downloaded it and have not done a thing with it.
    :(

at least (so far) it does not seem to be as bad as the last update.

10 days is long enough every nexus 6,9 should be running 6.0. Factory image was released on the 5th so should have been the OTA.. As my daily driver I don't feel comfortable messing with bootloader and shouldn't be forced to either Google needs to step it up and get it to us

Google doesn't roll out to everybody all at once with good reason. However, if you are on the long end of the rollout it certainly doesn't feel good. I don't think there's a discernible way to know where you are on the list or why one time you get it first and another you get it last.

    ^^^ +1!

Yeah, it's always been that way (anyone remember the 2010 Eris "when am I gonna get my 2.1 OTA" thread? :p)...my N5 typically gets update notifications several weeks after my son gets his.

I'm sure it all has to do with bandwidth, monitoring feedback/issues with the OTA, and other things we're not privy to, etc.

Under my "system update" screen it is saying "Android System Update Waiting to download...." "This update is 23.3 MB. To continue the download, select a WI-FI network. Via WI-FI only until Oct 17."

I switched to WIFI but this is still the same message I get. Never seen this before. Anyone know what gives???
