Nandroid backup had slightly changed boot.img so patch check wouldn't pass. Pulled.
So if you do this will you be rooted and be able to have the update and a custom rom?
Yep just flash superuser.zip
I download the stock v8 and turned off the verfication thing and it won't update via recovery...
Is there a changelog for this update?
Yes. I was recieving the same errors. I tried last night to flash the vzb update and it would say signature failure, installation aborted.
Then i would disable signature verification. THen it would hit a script assert failure. Installation aborted.
So then i disabled script asserts... And it still hit the same error. I am using Clockworkmod. Is there a different one i should be using thats better? If so, could you please point me in the right direction?
I can also get you the changelog for my attempt if you need it... TYIA
Completed steps 1-4.
While applying zip:
Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("MTD:boot:3129344:7d4826772b6ad9336e09E:unknown command [1bdf3c060502f8619361:3272704:bbb401bf52920484e95b4a0a8491f36576e06acd")]

I have tried helping two people in IRC the past 2 days and they both have gotten this error with your recovery drellisdee and clockwork recovery.
That error looks like boot.img isnt stock. This worked for me but you may need to downgrade to v0.
Could I simply add or remove apk files to the update? And if so, can I do it simply from explorer or do I have to do it from a kitchen?
File was pulled. Please see OP.
