Old geek, new to Android platform

I am new to the Android platform but I've been geeking out on computers since probably about 1981 or so. I have run various Linux distros at home for a file/print server over the years (currently Ubuntu). I am looking forward to tweaking the heck out of my Moto Droid (although I don't see a reason to root it at this time).

I am glad to see such an active community for the new platform, it looks like I have a lot to learn.
