Old newbie learning about LG Optimus V

I am an old lady baby boomer who has joined this forum to get info about my new Android phone. I am fairly tech savvy-- read David Pogue's column in the New York Times-- but the manual for the LG Optimus V is pretty crappy.
Don't have any specific questions yet, just glad this forum exists!
