On non-rooted Android 5.1, how to have apps install on microSD?

I have a Chuwi Hi12 dual-boot tablet that comes with a small internal storage but has a microSD slot. I'd like to have my Android games/apps install onto my gigantic microSD. My tablet runs Android 5.1 and is not rooted. In Settings>Apps, there is no way to move an app onto the SD card. (I guess the Chuwi creators disabled this option.)

In my other rooted devices, I have used an app that lets me install apps onto the microSD (Link2SD). But it doesn't work on a non-rooted device.

Does anybody have any advice?

It's not a case of the manufacturer disabling the option. It's not been part of Android since 4.0, so it's actually a case of them not adding it back as many others do.

I'm afraid that root may be your only option. I can't see the adb command to change default install location doing anything if the system doesn't have the option to move apps in the first place.

I suspect it's only got quite a small partition for Android, 6-8GB is it? With Windows 10 taking up the rest of the internal storage. Quite frankly unless it's rooted, probably can't do anything with it. As for rooting and modding these cheap dual-boot Intel Atom Chinese tablets, it's good luck I think...here be dragons!

Chuwi do have a community forum for the H12, but it's all in Chinese of course.

FWIW if it had Android 7.x instead of 5.x Lollipop, it could have offered adoptive storage for the SD. But I don't think Chuwi would be in any hurry to update their custom Android OS in it. For any Windows updates, Microsoft takes care of that of course.

They have an English forum too.

I didn't see them earlier. But a quick browse of it shows this, how to increase the Android partition in the H12 tablet.

I think there's no guarantees this is going to work....good luck! It was only posted 11 hours ago apparently, so might be worth waiting a bit, see if anyone reports good or bad.

I've even been tempted to completely remove Windows and have just Android. :)
