Got my LG G6 today and needless to say all the Google stuff (Contacts, Play Store, Chrome etc) synced up seamlessly.

So I'm thinking I'll install one app at a time and give commentary and hopefully pictures of how the few 3rd party apps i use most work on this new device with the funky aspect ratio. I'll be starting late Sunday night with fbreader premium.

Fbreader premium works fine. Tweek your font settings a bit and it almost makes you want to go to two page veiw like you where reading a paperback.

You see at least one more paragraph per page in one column view. That's a good thing!

Downloading 40GB of music to my MicroSd card now so PowerAmp unlocked will be next. This is going to take a while...

I don't have 40GB (only about 20) but it's nice being able to have it all there when I want to listen. :)

    OT:

You know what would be really cool...
An app to determine which apps you use most. I guarantee Phone would be at the bottom of my list.

There are a few app use trackers in the play store. Some haven't been updated for a few years while one offers in app purchases (???). Can't say I've ever wanted one, though.

    OT:

I just need one for a month or so. I'd like to know how many and how often. I use apps other than the Phone over that time period.

Some launchers do that. At least, ASUS ZenUI launcher does...

Is there an app for that?

If there isn't I'll put that on my list for the next project.

PowerAmp unlocked actually sounds better through my bottom firing speaker than my eatbuds. Never tought I'd say that.

I'm thinking MXPlayer Pro for my next review. Do people watch ripped DVDs on their phones anymore? Those streaming services are getting really good.

    I haven't done that in 4 years.

I never did rip my whole DVD collection. I've been downloading some stuff but it's just not the same. Over the years I've bought about 100 DVDs. Stuff I don't mind watching over and over. I rip about four a year.

I'll copy over what's pn my PC tonight and share my experience layer this week.

They're all 16:9 so on a 2:1 display it just has to be different, doesn't it?

Personally, I thing the whole 16:9/18:9 issue is a tempest in a teapot. There never will be complete synergy between display formats between TV's, PC's and smartphones, so somebody is always going to have an issue. Live with the black bars or stretch the image.

Back in the day we had to walk ten miles in the snow just to watch a feature film. ;)

That does sound a bit more severe than a storm in a teacup. :p

    OT:

I don't agree. I dismissed convergence a couple of decades ago and lost money. The time is actually here.

    Black bars aren't the issue.

What worries me is new hardware.
    Rool up screens... Seriously

I find the idiomatic differences fascinating. The British/English "Storm in a teacup" isn't alliterative like the American/English "Tempest in a teapot." Of course, everything is bigger over here. ;)

I wouldn't worry. New hardware rapidly becomes old hardware, and new features either become standards or "WTF were they thinking?"
