Not sure if it's just me, but I can't seem to find the OCLF app in the market. I've downloaded it from there before, now it seems to have disappeared. Was it taken down? And also, can someone tell me the name of the other root tool that was made (by the same person as OCLF).

edit. I'm on AT&T if that matters.

Yeah, Google seems to have it out for RyanZA lately. Hypocritical, considering the things they do allow to remain on the market (illegally downloading copyrighted music and ROMs for free?).

The other tool you're looking for is called z4root.

Instructions on installing and using z4root can be found at the Captivate FAQ (along with a wealth of other good info):

UTB does a lot more than rooting and wouldn't really be recommended for someone not looking to do more than root. UTB flashes a nonstandard hacked-up ROM and a serious modification to your phone.
