Help Only getting 200kps down on 3G with full bars (rooted phone)

When I first got my Prevail 3 months ago I was getting an average of 600 to 900kps down. This is while sitting in my office on downtown area of SoCal. I have full bars of signal strength.

Now I only get between 100 to 200kps down. SO frustrating. It there anything I could have done when rooting that could have effected my speeds. Everything I read says no. Or, could it be the local SPrint tower is overloaded or having issues. I never drop a call. It's just the 3G speed that's the problem.

Has this been an ongoing issue or is it new?

Antennas can have short term issues (weather, special events, topography) can be an issue if you are at 1 location.

Give it several days to make sure you have a problem and test from as many areas as possible (home, work, friend's house) to narrow down if Boost's network or maybe your Prevail might be the cause..

I've tested speed at home, work, and other urban locations. Once it jumped up to 600+kps but other than that stayed at 200kps down.

I just remember when I first got this phone and before rooting it would get higher speeds all the time.

I have the Identical problem except it didn't start after rooting...my problem began after a tower problem that covered where I live (south FL) and 3g was completly out for almost a week when they did get it back up I never had decent speed again (prior 1032 kbps dwn on average) now 400kbps dwn on average I've used a couple different speed tests on phone w/app on phone w/browser and on laptop tethered USB and get pretty much the same #'s ...so I was wondering if they have turn down the speed on me (throttled) or tower wasn't fixed properly ....I do get better speeds when I check away from my house and there is good signal (mid 600kbps dwn on average) so I don't really know what the deal is but really would like to know ...Boost is adding $5 monthly surcharge on (new) plans w/android phones right before they rollout the the new android phone (looks like a decent one) so it makes me wonder more about being throttled and I do use a ton of data when I tether (everyday) ...
