Ive locked myself out of my LG optimus. i dont have a g-mail account so its not working :/ and ive tried doing a factory reset by holding down, ( Power, home, volume down/volume up) but its all said 'Download mode' on a plain black, background. any ideas to help me do a factory reset would be great and really appreciated!

Can you get into recovery mode? Home button + power button? You can do a restore or factory wipe from there.
