Help Opening folders in home screen but none of my apps are showing

When I try to open app folders in my home screen, it is appearing blank but the apps still seem to be in those folders since I can see them when they are not opened. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I am using a Verizon s4 if that makes a difference.

Have you tried deleting the folders and re adding the apps to them?

Some pages in the apps are also missing and I can't customize the home screen at all

Also, flipping between the home screens is not a smooth transition, it's sudden

Clear the data and cache for the launcher app, and it should fix any problems you may be having. Keep in mind that clearing the data will reset the launcher back to default, but it also helps to fix any corrupt files that are causing issues with the app.
