I've just ordered an unlock code direct from Orange to unlock my Orange supplied Hero.

I would also like to remove all the Orange branding but not root my phone, could anyone advise or point me to a link to do this.

I've seen the post on how to do this applying to the Desire but after searching there doesn't seem to be a solution specifically for the Hero on this forum.

If it's Orange, then you won't need a goldcard. If you want to get rid of the branding (and get a faster ROM to boot), then root (you'll have to to get rid of the branding and to flash the generic ROM) and install the MoDaCo 3.2 ROM

    Use this thread for instructions.

To answer your question, I don't think it's even possible to de-brand your phone without switching over to entirely new firmware, never mind without rooting.

You would have to root it, and install a custom ROM to debrand

Apologies, missed that part. As already said, don't think there's a way
