Hi guys
I have Villain 12, and for some unkown reason I downloaded all the OTA updates with villain updater. I didn't need them as everything was ok, but I like to be up to date. Anyway, I now cannot get online, and it says "Connection failed due to incorrect APN setting". This worked fine before all these updates, and the settings appear correct from what I can tell:

I found out what it was by looking really close at each entry. For some reason MMS settings changed, so where I had 192.168.224.010 in the proxy it wanted 192.168.224.10 (.10 instead of .010). All sorted!

That may have been a red herring - I had the same this afternoon and I think it was related to a network problem.

I had the same problem today with my HTC Desire, also on Orange: "Connection failed due to incorrect APN setting", changed 192.168.224.010 to 192.168.224.10 in the MMS Proxy setting for Orange MMS, now all working again. AFAIK I haven't updated anything today, so it's very odd.

ETA: It's possible it was a red herring, as previous poster states. The network started working again as soon as I changed the setting, but it may just have been that changing the setting forced the phone to retry connecting, perhaps?

That may have been a red herring - I had the same this afternoon and I think it was related to a network problem.

I'm guessing that because the phone couldn't connect properly to the Orange network, Android wrongly assumed it must have been because the apn was incorrect. Very misleading!

Had exactly the same today. Think there may have been a problem at Orange. It seemed to come back after I left Tamworth, could be a base station problem in the Tamworth area ????

Could just be Tamworth in general though LOL

Mine went in Croydon too, Tamworth is special I agree, Snowdome FTW

Weird, I had the exact same problem all through the afternoon... I'm a proud Northern boy and my Hero wouldn't connect to the internet while I was on the train home from London until I reached Stockport so I figured it just hated the south.
