You can always upgrade early by doing it ONLINE, but I believe it's only two months earlier than it was due, they will then add those two months onto any new contract....ie: an 18 month contract would then run for 20 months. That's what I did to get my Hero.

I don't think they'd let you get rid of this contract unless you bought yourself out of it, which can be pretty expensive (You basically pay for all the remaining months of the contract + possibly a cancellation fee).

Maybe Orange have some kind of deal for people who want to switch phones but not contracts, I dunno. EDIT: What tojjer said :p

I suppose it depends how much you wanna put towards a Desire. You could flog your Hero, and add the difference to get one.......depends how badly you want one !!!

It also depends on how much you spend on your contract. I supposed to be able to upgrade in Dec '10 but I've been told in the Orange shop I can do it on 1st May :)

I just don't know if it's worth it to upgrade from Hero to Desire or to wait for next gen ;)

The Desire is nice, granted, but is it really a big enough upgrade from the Hero? For me it wouldn't be....

Weirdly I've been offered better deal @ the shop than from their customer services. Try it after you'll crawl out of the bed ;)

To my knowledge, Orange allows you to upgrade alot earlier than most other SP's, I upgraded to the hero 6 months before my 18 month contract ended. But for the most part I think you need to buy yourself out of the contract.

@Jaffa, P4U can give you upto

I wouldnt touch phones4U with a barge pole. Crooks IME.

And yes, the Desire is worth it. For starters, it's twice as fast as the Hero. I loved my Hero, as does Lekky, but the Desire.....mmmmmmmm

Sell the Hero, drop the price plan on the Orange contract, buy it out then upgrade.

Muahaha, classic :D I'd be in the same situation if Orange wouldn't offer me an early upgrade on 1 May :) Good luck on the battlefront soldier! Gotta get the upgrade from Hero to Desire asap :)
