Just got the update to Android 2.3.4 on my Sensation.

Now I'm searching for the difference to 2.3.3 :)

And new HBOOT 1.18.0000 which can't be S-OFF via Revolutionary. It also says *** LOCKED *** above the HBOOT so I'm guessing it's HTCs new way of marking them

Not available on my sim free sensation yet. I guess they're rolling it out in stages.

Just updated. Unfortunately the problems with DHCP WiFi are not solved. I still need to use static IP with my home access point

settings -> about phone -> software updates -> check now
that's if it's available in egypt already; the phandroid article says "in europe", so probably not, but i suppose it'll land there in a short while

Does anyone knows when O2 planning realising update?
My phone on O2 no updates so far.

I cant see any o2 branding on phone, no start up logos. Just one wallpaper and ringtone.

    I have an unbranded handset in Ireland, details below;

    Android Version 2.3.3

    HTC Sense 3.0

    Software No : 1.35.401.1

    build no : 1.35.401.1 release keys CL84734

My friend on Vodafone IE has had the update pushed OTA before my own handset which I thought was a bit curious, so I contacted HTC. They first asked me to try this which some of you might find helpful. If you have missed the OTA update from your network provider try key in this ' *#*#checkin#*#* ' on the phone. I still have not as yet received any update on my phone and I have been told by HTC that there is no other way to install the update to 2.3.4 (which I think is not the case) other than from your network provider OTA, as my network provider is not carrying the Sensation I find it quite frustrating that this seems to be the limit of their support. I have requested they send me the updatepackage.zip but I am not confident in their own technical support. Pretty terrible for such an expensive device to have such a poor level of support.

Not impressed with HTC. They should admit to these deals with Vodafone and tell us when we can expect the update.

From what i can tell having installed 2.3.4, this is a pretty small update. You're not missing out on anything ground breaking or new. Just be patient and the update will make it's way to you when it's ready.

Bearbot - If you have an un-branded handset, then the update will not come from your network provider, AFAIK it should be made available by HTC themselves. Your phone will alert you when it's ready. You can go to settings>about phone>software updates> check now to check manually

    Agree.

I'm also not very impressed. One of the advantages of paying 400 pound for an unbranded handset is that you always tend to get the updates first before the carriers. If this is to be the policy with HTC from now on, It may put me off buying one of their handsets unbranded again.

Thats not really the point though. What about when we hopefully get 2.4, will people who paid for unbranded phones have to wait again? Unbranded Desires always get the updates first, as did my previous nokia phones and I expect no less this time especially since the rest of Europe has the update unbranded first.

In an ideal world every phone would be unbranded and we'd all get every update at exactly the same time. But in reality that's total unfeasible, it just wouldn't work.

You've made an assumption that because you haven't got this update first, you won't get 2.4 or any other update first. How do you know that? Please don't think i'm having a go cos i'm not, i'm just simply saying that it isn't as big a deal as perhaps you think it is. Chances are this update was created to fix a bug that was more apparent on the vodafone software and actually has no relevance to unbranded phones? who knows.
