Other than CM7, can anyone tell me what other really good custom ROMs there are??

Similar to CM7 - Gingervillain, Redux, Oxygen. I like these ASOP lightweight ROMs.
Sense ROMs - RCMix, InsertCoin, LeeDroid, etc. I hear good things about these ROMs, but Sense ROMs are too large/heavy for my taste.
MIUI ROMs - MIUI-Au, MIUI-XJ. I've tried MIUI-AU and it was good. The XJ seems similarly popular.

I'm finding that CM7 isn't so good on battery life as CM6 was, it also have a screen brightness issue, or at least I do. Time for change me thinks.
I have CM7 for a few days, and so far the battery is not really worse than with the GV ROM. What is the problem with the screen brightness? I have it auto and it works well.

What I think is happening is that the light sensor isn't activated until after the lock screen has been swiped to open the phone. So if I just press the track ball to get the time for instance I get a very dim screen which is unreadable in direct sunlight, and if I don't need the phone for anything else its just a bit of a pain. I just ran Redux for a few hours. Very skinny. :D

I see. Funny, for me this is happening random. It's like every odd switch on shows a dim screen, and every even switch on shows a bright screen. :D
Ah well, I can leave with this.

...the light sensor isn't activated until after the lock screen has been swiped...

this happens to me too. i'm sure they'll fix it eventually... lol. in the mean time i just hit the lock button twice and the brightness seems to adjust properly. i didn't use CM6 much so i don't recall whether or not this was an issue.

one of my other fav AOSP roms is ultimate droid

Better how?n I think each of them has their +- points.

I guess personal preference, plus ive experienced a few bugs on GV and i never get any issues with ReDux or Oxygen... Well i used to with older versions of oxygen but the new one is very nice, running really smoothly.

Out of the 2 i mentioned i would say ReDux... 1] Faster 2] More stable 3] Really good battery life... And i have tested the hell out of all 3 lol.

But at the end of the day i think it comes to whatever you like... all three are good ROM's. I just dont get on well with GV ;)
