Just help my wife's OV next to my MT, both on stock prl.
    Hers: -89 dbm
    Mine: -92 dbm

Not much difference if you ask me. I have found both to be better at different times or in different spots. Claiming that the MT is always worse (and by a significant amount) is false, imo.

Choose whatever phone or carrier you want. But please don't take anecdotal evidence and claim it as absolute truth.

I don't claim VM or the OV or MT as perfect, they all have their flaws, but when my bill is one third what I paid somewhere else, I can deal with it.

There is always someone out there who keeps posting positive things about a product that is known to be defective. It happens all the time. I don't have to exaggerate about how well the Triumph performs just because I own one. There is not a single part of the Triumph that is not known for having defects. I am only on my third, soon fourth, triumph but there are people who are on number 5 or more.

Anyone who claims the signal strength on the triumph is even close to the OV is being less than honest. The radio is weaker, the wifi is weaker and suffers from frequent disconnects and the Bluetooth is even weaker. I can put my OV in my pocket and listen to my Pyle BT headset while walking around with no problems. When I do this on the Triumph, any of the 3 I've owned, it will cut out and the phone heats up.

I, like most other Triumph owners, love what the Triumph was supposed to be. If only this were a true Motorola phone and not just a rebadged Huawei it might have lived up to half our expectations.

Edit: I stand corrected, the gorilla glass screen is not defective. Though some have reported dust under the screen, light leakage is common and the question of why a second screen protector is standard on gorilla glass is a mystery. So the glass appears to be top quality but the screen "unit" has some question question marks.

That's not all true. I am not going to say that the MT is a good phone, but rather a decent phone. I have the MT4GS now which is miles better but that's besides the point. Signal with the MT and OV are relatively close they use the same radio... Maybe the antenna on the OV was slight better, but not much. I had virtually no problems with my MT. I didn't get disconnected from wifi (except on some custom roms), and 3g was decent I'll admit I did have it switch from 3g to 1x from time to time. I couldn't tell you about bluetooth as I never use it. The thing is there actually are some decent MTs out there, granted a lot of them are riddled with problems, but just because you and a bunch of people who post on here have problems don't mean that other people especially people who don't have an account on here or never posted here because they don't have problems. Judging a phone by what people say the problems are on a forum which not everyone in the world who owns that phone is gonna be involved with is not accurate. I'm not defending the MT I got away from it and VMs 3g, but that doesn't mean other people will.

Edit: also you have to remember that this is on a prepaid company and getting a phone for $300 compared to any other post paid company if they had it, it would probably be $500+... I think people expect too much from getting a phone so cheap and paying such a small monthly payment. If you want quality then switch to a post paid carrier or Prepaid GSM carrier or cricket where you can use pretty much any phone.

I have not ever lied about my experiences and I do not make stuff up to feel better about my phone. So please do not accuse me of that. All I see is you ignoring anyone who has an experience unlike your own. You want me to take pictures of the signal strength of the two phones? I can do that. You do know that your signal can depend on where you live and how good the coverage is there, correct? So it is definitely possible for someone to claim something other than your own experience and not be exaggerating. It does not make them "less than honest", it is all anecdotal evidence and will vary from one user to another. Claiming that someone is lying because you had a different experience is close-minded and saying that they do it to feel better about their purchase is ascribing motives you know nothing about.

I am on my second Triumph. The reason I replaced mine... The microUSB port was going bad. I know there are people that have never replaced their first one. Just because you are on #4 doesn't mean everyone is. If mine did not have an issue with the charging port I would still be on the first one, in fact it took about 8 months for this to happen to me (I have a coworker that has gone through 3 HTC Evo's in that time for the same thing, hmmmm).

I do not use the bluetooth except to transfer files to another phone and have never had an issue there. I have also never experienced any light leakage. Please do not accuse me of making things up to feel better about my phone. I feel fine with my purchase. I never claimed it to be a great phone, but when I switched to Virgin Mobile and got the Triumph, I knew I was going to a carrier with worse coverage and slower speeds. That's okay, I didn't want to pay three times as much when I barely use data (I use wifi usually). And I am fine with a mid range phone. I never claimed it to be otherwise. And I never expected a phone that never had an issue for $300 and $35/month.

I have been a part of the Triumph community here pretty much since the phone was launched and I don't think I have a reputation of a liar. So please refrain from calling me one. I find that quite rude and offensive. If you want proof of what I claim I can provide it. Just know I never called you a liar or said that your experience was wrong, just that it is not universal.

EDIT: Here is a signal comparison.
I am not saying that they are always like that, just refuting that they are always majorly different (with the Triumph being worse).

Did I name anyone specifically? Since you mention it just about all triumph owners would still be on their first triumphs if not for the poor quality control at foxconn. You can call it anecdotal evidence all you want but it is simple math to figure it out. I've never bought an electronic device that was as low quality as the triumph.

My first nook color was replaced due to metal flakes under the glass. The replacement was perfect.

My first triumph started overheating and rebooting. Replacement overheating, rebooting, light leaking from capacitive buttons, and the earpiece didn't work so you had to use speakerphone or headphones. This triumph was new in box, like the first one. Capacitive buttons don't light up at all, overheats, can't hold a 3g connection, wifi disconnect all the time.

Oh and all 3 had issues with data connection, wifi, Bluetooth, USB charging port not working right. No excuse for 2 new in box devices both being defective and for virgin to have sent a refurbished unit that wouldn't even function as a phone. It amazes that they are able to still be selling them when the defective rate has to be 75% or higher. There must be a lot of people buying this phone and just accepting the defects as what you get on prepaid for $300.

By the way, the hardware in the triumph is not the same as the optimus v. Saying it uses the same radio is misleading. They are both rev. A but the hardware is different even if they both are on the same network.

Well, what I am saying is that I have had one replacement, and not had issues with that. Is that so different than your nook color? I am not saying the phone is perfect or great or anything, but many people are happy with the phone (and many are not). Saying that it is horrible for everyone is untrue, although it is definitely true for some.

    Being that you posted this:
    Right after I posted this:
Led me to believe you statement was referring to me. I may not have been specifically, but it was generally since it was discussing something I just made a claim about.

Anecdotal evidence is only referring to the fact that the claims made have not been done with any sort of scientific method or with a large enough sample size to be taken as proof of anything. Has Motorola or Virgin Mobile done such a study? Possibly, but we haven't seen anything like that. So I will call it anecdotal evidence until there is any sort of legitimate study either way that we can refer to for facts.

Maybe you got caught in refurb hell? The same exact thing happens with MS and their 360's and I've heard Sony had a refurb hell as well until they stopped refurbishing certain units.

When I first got my Triumph, (approx. 8 months ago) I got speeds of 1.2 - 1.3 mbps. Now, I can hardly get 600kbps, and I live on the street above our local shopping center, which contains a disguised cell tower. If anything, this is evidence of VM throttling our speeds all the time now. Even so, I usually get 4 bars in my room, and now I regularly get 3-2.

The more traffic a cell tower has the slower your speed.

I notice my 3am speed is a lot faster than 3pm speed.

This is true; however I used to get 1.2 mbps at around noon, at which time I hardly get 200-300 kbps now. Last night at 12:00 AM, I had about 600 kbps.

    EDIT:
On the subject of Beats Audio, it seems that Beats' "sound enhancement" can be disabled on the software side of things in SENSE (below screenshot is from the Rezound, although I see no reason why this feature won't be in the ICS version of SENSE.)

Well it's good to see that it can be disabled, just in case it does make things worse. I'll be interested in testing out what it actually does to my music, though :)

Just to weigh in with my off topic .02 cents, I have had no problems at all with my Triumph. Someone earlier was talking about the Intercept, Well I paid less for the Triumph and had nothing but problems with the Intercept including 3 exchanges. And before everyone praises HTC can you say Widfire?
Yes anecdotally the Triumph doesn't look good but again people don't usually sign up to post on forums what a wonderful phone they have. Unless it's Apple of course. :)

This phone is GSM are you proposing they will make a special CDMA version for VM? Doubt it.

There are already plenty of rumors about it coming to VM, along with a couple other regional CDMA carriers in the states.

The HTC One V should be hitting VM this spring. I am SO ready to get rid of my headache. I had an Intercept, and in my mind, it was not only built, but it worked much better than this phone. COME ON ONE V!

TBH: Every phone is different, I get it. I think it is safe to say that for some of us, the Triumph has sadly been half baked. For me, the lack of AGPS, the constant opening of the battery door, and the dust under the screen has me ready to drop this puppy. However, 2.3.7 really made a night and day difference.

There are many gsm variants of the Triumph hardware. It's a relatively easy design change to swap radios When you're dealing with SOC everything is the same on the chip but the radio in the same family. Did it for the iphone eh? And far as the battery door coming loose Virgin will gladly send you a new one but I think a better solution for that and the dust under the screen is to purchase a clip on case for like 3 bucks from Amazon. Doesn't add appreciable bulk, doesn't stick in your pocket and definitely improves the resale value.

The HTC One V would be well over $500 prepaid, it's thier flagship phone. CDMA versions will have a dual core Qualcom S4 on 4G LTE instead of Tegra3, otherwise should stay the same. This will never and can never come to Virgin. Sprint just began rollout on 4G LTE and this is one of the first phones to take advantage of that. They are not going to give Virgin the 4G goodness when they already throttle the hell out of us on their 3G network. FYI: yes it does come with Beats audio. :D

Don't you mean the One X or One S? The One V is only equipped with a single-core processor; although, all of HTC's new lineup include "Beats Audio," my opinions of which I've expressed previously.

Mea Culpa, yes I was drooling over the One X at the time of posting , although regarding the previous poster asking if they would make a cdma version of the One V, they already have.

The One V would be a great replacement for the Triumph. The specs are almost the same, except for screen size, and operating system. I want 4.0. I'm tired of not having the option of being on the latest operating system.

Let's just hope we get it soon. I'm ready to get my hands on it. :)

The prospect of the One V does not light my fire design-wise. I want a bigger screen if I'm paying money for a new device after nine months with the Triumph. I would not consider any upgrade...if there were more dev for the MT. Which just doesn't seem like its going to happen. I am saving up to jump carriers/devices when feasible. I know a lot of awesome folks put a lot of time into it, but the MT ROM offerings are falling behind the projects I want to do. Lots of alphas with some very basic things missing, a very out of date MIUI GB with lockscreen manifest bustedness, and big features missing from newer GB builds...besides basic phone function, I wanna theme. This just isn't the phone to theme my heart out. I had thought that the MT would get just as much dev (if not more) than the OV due to screen size/res, but a lot of folk left the carrier, moved on to other projects, or never got interested in the first place. I will pass on this new offering unless I see big projects straight out of the gate and a price under $200.
