Hi everyone

I upgraded to gingerbread last night through kies. everything was fine at first but today i cannot send texts.

I can receive them and make calls, its really frustrating:mad: so i called my network and they sent me a text to read and then delete, then switch phone off take out battery and then start phone up.

I thought it had solved the problem as i was able to send about 4 messages and now when i try they fail straight away.

Dont know what else to try and i was really looking forward to getting gingerbread...my phone is working faster though on the plus side.

does anyone have any ideas on what i can do?

Thank you:)

Hello!

The same problem happened on my phone last night. I was texting then, suddenly, couldn't send! Receiving and making calls was OK.

Samsung Galaxy Ace running 2.2 (I think- I got it last week and haven't upgraded so I assume that's what it is.)

I phoned T-mobile who said that this is a known issue that they've been investigating for a couple of weeks. The lady I spoke to said that texting would work if either a) I turn wi-fi ON or b) I turn data off.

I've tried both suggestions and they seem to work. I'll be looking out for some sort of update which cures this problem.

thanks for your help on this i had a feeling it was due to the update but i like the improvement in speed my phone has with gingerbread so i hope there will be a fix for this soon.

i will try turning the wifi on and see if i can send a text then.

thank you

I now think that the phone must actually be connected to a wifi network to enable text-sending. This is a bit of a nuisance for me.

I've now downloaded a widget which allows me to turn data on/off quickly from the home screen (search "data widget" in market) and I find this the best and quickest solution.

Samsung: I look forward to a fix for this inconvenient problem!

Its not a Samsung issue its what your carrier did to the firmware. 3 users and stock rom users dont seem to have this issue. If your with T mobile id start by complaining to them.

I had this problem and I am on stock ROM (csc - XEU) on a sim-free Ace, I have reverted to FROYO.

I am with Orange and when i phoned them about this problem, they had not heard of it and didnt know how to help me apart from sending a service reset message. In fact i told them how to temporary solve the issue after getting help from this forum!!

I was hoping there was going to be a fix update for this problem, does this mean there wont be then?

Today I contacted T mobile and they said they are aware of the problem and are waiting for Samsung to come up with a update.
