outlook -> droid works but droid -> outlook sync does not

Working with a samsung vibrant. I have the gmail and exchange account (via active sync) set up on the phone. I can create calendar items and contacts on Outlook and they will sync on the phone. However, when I add an item to the calendar using the vibrant, the changes do not sync to outlook or OWA. Same goes for contacts. I have the company account as default but still doesn't update outlook. Any ideas or leads?
