    overclocked captivates
Has anyone actually tried 1.2ghz overclock on the samsung captivate and if so how is it running? Have you had any issues, bugs, etc. I'm highly tempted to try this myself. I ran the one click lag fix and am pretty please with the results. Any insight greatly appreciated!

I've been running it from the start. First, it made the most noticeable difference in the phone compared to all other "fixes" It's incredibly stable and haven't see one issue. The older kernel had some wake lag problems, but the new SRE flashable zip is right on, over clocks, has build in lag fix the works.

How much has it impacted your battery life vs stock clock Rob?

None. I run at 1200 max, 800 min. I have a profile to set down to 400 to 600 when the screen is off. With the new kernel there really are no ill effects. It runs a little hotter but no where near anything to worry about.

If you google "xda 1.2ghz captivate overclock" or something similar, it should give you the link right near the top that will take you to the xda developers site which has instructions on how to do so. I'm not linking the actual site because I'm not sure I'm really allowed to do that. Read as much as you can about how to do it and make sure you are comfortable with the process before attempting, as you can brick your phone, but you will see plenty more of those warnings on the developers sites as well as elsewhere. There are some pretty good videos on youtube of people showing how to flash through odin. I recommend checking those out. Good luck!

Sweet. I wasn't aware that the lag fix was also built into the overclock. As a safety precaution do you think I should probably flash back to stock then as I have read not to try other lag fixes if you currently one have one installed?

Aight, I pulled the trigger. One click lag fix and overclocked to 1.2ghz. The phone runs silky smooth!! Super fast!! Here's a screen shot of quadrant running a score of 2693!

    Thank you XDA!

P.S. this is a screen shot from the app "screenshot" which seems to invert the colors ?!? Whatevs, works O.K. and fills the purpose.

Your link is some kind of URL to GMail[?] You probably want to either just attach the image into the thread, or use an image hosting solution like Picasa (Google), or Photobucket, etc.

Screenshot has an option 'invert colors', if you check that on, your screen shots will look perfect!

Do you have to flash with Odin for fresh start? I have root, lag fix and battery indicator flash?

No need to reflash to stock. I had same thing, root, lag fix, flashed overclock through odin on top of the lag fix. I don't know about the battery indicator flash, so I can't speak to that. However, I don't believe that would mess anything up, but don't take my word for it, I'm certainly no programmer. :) If it were my, I would probably do it, but worst case scenario, if you have to back everything up, flash back to stock then do the lag fix and overclock, its not the end of the world. Hope this helps!!

I did this...all I have to say is wow...even generating my media gallery...SOO much quicker and smoother...All I had to pay was 1.99 for setcpu... worth those 199 pennies!!!

    Nope...but I don't mind, whatever.

How do I know if I am running at 1.2ghz?? Any tutorial vids of set cpu???

I see those charts(like posted above) are there benchmark tests that generate charts like that? App????

Anyway to get my captivate to push 1.3ghz when I want??

just with the lag fix im running 2300's ive tried going the setcpu route and its honestly not worth it. It heats the battery up and you have to set profiles for that to. Setcpu is very unresponsive and has poor memory settings to profiles. The lagfix from xda is more than enough on its own to make the captivate a blazing wonder.

How in the world are you scoring so high? I'm running vibrant hybrid r 2 with the built-in lagfix and Set CPU cranked to 1200/800. I only score in the 1600 range.

Nevermind....I was running r1. Went to R2 with Unhelpful's 1.2 kernel. Score jumped by almost 1k.

Biggest Quadrant score ever without hacking? This is the most I've been able to muster. Captivate running One Click Lag Fix, 1.2ghz overclock from XDA, Laucher Pro, Android 2.1 Eclair. I'm not using SetCPU, I'm using Overclock Widget. I have no battery issues, same battery life as before, no heating issues, generally no issues other than common wakeup lag, which seems to be more than an adequate trade off.
