    Ooo-eee.

Got my smartphone and am floundering a bit. When I do Google search (for example, for how to sync calendar and contacts with Microsoft Outlook), I find several apps at significant cost. I don't mind paying if that's just how it is, but would appreciate being told if that's necessary or not. And, if not, what's my best next step?

    Oh, thank you thank you.

    Welcome to the forums!

If you have questions about your device, I would recommend checking out the specific board for your phone (the directory of different phone-specific boards is at the bottom of the home page) and somebody there should be able to help you.

Generally speaking though, you can operate using free apps from the Market but there are paid versions of many apps which offer additional benefits. For a more detailed response, I would defer to the experts on the board dedicated to your phone. :)

what kind of phone is it. Most phone manufacturers provide a sync tool software for their phones. HTC provides HTC sync from their website. Check out your manufacturers web site before you pay for an app
