Is there a way to open a socket, or find the ip address, of a phone via its tele number?

I wish we could address phones like this:

    2145551212.att.com

    That would be cool.

Cool, but really insecure. DOS attack your ex and she'll never get another email :)

No less secure than any other computer on the internet.

I am sure than in the not too distant future you will be able
to do something similar to this. Anything less is really hampering
where we can go with phones.

Locking down phones in this manner smacks of the same attitude you see
in people that believe in security thru unpublished algorithms and such. The industry would do everyone a big favor to attack security head on instead of
    doing security thru obscurity.

Aren't most home computers on dynamically assigned IPs and behind a NAT?
