    Hi Lizziesav, is this a carrier issue?

    It kinda sounds like it. I would *guess* that it might be some kind of way to differentiate voice/sms data vs web data... but that's just a guess.

    You might be able to find someone else with the same question or a solution over there.

    Welcome to Android Forums!

    Packet data is just another way to describe mobile data. If you want to receive data over 3G/4G networks, you must have packet data enabled.
