I really dislike sharing my location - call me paranoid, but I really, really don't think I need to share my location with unknown third parties. But my DINC2 thinks it's in Detroit MI and I like to at least get it a little closer to home (even Phildelphia, PA would be OK, although I'm in the 'burbs, almost in the sticks). Am I worrying about this issue way too much or...???

What are you needing your location for?

Here is a decent explanation of the location services if you are not familiar with them -

You are already trackable by simply having a phone, Verizon can theoretically track use by knowing what tower you are connected to. Whether or not 3rd parties have access to location data is up to you but you may lose the ability to use service provided by the 3rd parties.

I get where you're coming from, but Verizon can track you. If I'm not mistaken, it's mandated now as part of the E911 system (I'd have to double check to confirm). That said, you can use either Verizon or Google services to get you close, but won't be 100%.

That said, from a third party app perspective, just watch what you install. Not much you can do about the stock apps though.

    True enough about E911.

I'd write more but I'm late for the neo-crypto-Luddite cell meeting. ;)
