Passion vs. X10

So, which would you rather have? The sad unfortunate part of my reality is that I'm locked into AT&T with my business account, so I probably won't have any choice in this. However, if you could have either of these phones, for the same price, which would you lean to?

The rumored information makes it look like HD2 running android.

That's pretty much exactly what it is. The outer physical design will be different, but the specs are pretty much the same. Srsly, this is one of the most hyped phones yet to be announced...I'm surprised this is all news to you?

After looking at the specs for both, I think I'd definatley go with the SE X10. It will be the most capable phone and as long as SE gets the OS running properly, it will smoke the Passion.

I may not have a choice, seeing as i'm kinda locked into AT&T. I'm getting a little nervous with all the issues sony ericsson seems to be having with their phones lately...

Im also lean towards the x10 atm.

I saw something about htc passion/dragon rumor, but didnt pay much attention since its rumor :D

But if it does come out, i would choose it over HD2, however x10 is announced, so i rather get x10 for now.

If x10 change to bigger screen, that would be cool. :D

Here's my quick-and-dirty comparison.

The X10 is one sexy phone. - winner: X10
Both will run the 1Ghz snapdragon processor - tie.
SenseUI is the best package for Android on the market - winner Passion
8 MP camera - winner X10
Passion runs Android 2.0, X10 runs 1.6(for the time being) - winner Passion

Having said that, AT&T's 3G network is sporadic in my area so I'm waiting for the passion release.

I've played with the X10, its extremely sweet. Its brilliant for multimedia and SE have put their own touches to Android, just like SenseUI.

Where did you get a chance to play with one? I'd love to get my hands on one for an hour or 2 to see how it is. (Since it will be replacing my Droid when it releases.)

Sony & Mitsubishi had an event in my conference room and bar for clients. The kit in there was awesome, and the tech guy let me have half an hour with it.

The X10 is a much more attractive device, IMO. The Passion is ugly and may not even really exist. Plus, I'd rather buy from Sony rather than HTC.

Thought about this myself and was sooo close to ordering a HTC device myself. Contemplated a HD2 but WinMo is always going to be horrid, regardless of the Sense window dressing and the Passion/ Bravo/ Nexus one is effectively the same thing but running Android. The downside? The camera.....HTC have a nasty reputation for fitting utterly terrible cameras to their phones. Even with the pink issue fixed on the HD2, the picture quality is merely 'ok' with colours not being quite right and the images being grainy when viewed off the phone such as on a PC. The Nexus one suffers the same pink issue that the HD2 did and they're havng to release a fix in the next update which goes to show the same underlying issues on both OS's regardless of whether it's WinMo or Android. Poor, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Passion has the same problem when it finally appears which is naff on HTC's part.

The X10 will be the first Android device that actually sports a proper camera, and judging by the sample shots I've seen it looks to be good. Coming from N series Nokia's recently I could not bring myself to compromise on camera quality.....I use it far too much. Sure, if you want truly good pictures you buy a dedicated point and shoot but the best kind of camera is the one you have with you which makes it an essential requirement for me.

It comes down to this:
if you want a proper support for your phone (android upgrades) you should go for HTC.
If you want better multimedia experience (camrea, mediascape, and maybe those bluetooth stereo earphones Sony Ericsson MW600 Pictures and Review) than X10. But if Froyo brings something really great (unlike this 2.1) you're screwed.
