Is there any other alternative to this? such as a password/passcode unlock instead? I'm a bit unsure, as the pattern lock seems to me maybe easier to crack if someone were to get their hands on the phone, appears to be no limit on how many attempts you can make also.

I know this might be a long shot but is there anything out there such as a finger print unlock?

any help would be much appreciated. thanks

    oh ok thanks.
I'd still however much prefer some other form of security if possible, are there many apps of this nature out there?

I would also prefer an alternative as if you hold the desire at the right angle in the right light you can see the bloody finger trail and crack the code. Simples.

I agree I would just much prefer of having the option of a passcode instead, surely theres an app or something out there that provides this?

Just use a strong pattern till you find one.
It needn't just be 4 cirlces, you can join any number of circles you want..

Is there a way to password protect the android store payment system? I don't really trust the pattern lock either?

A quick search on AppBrain suggests a free app called AutoLock will do this. I've not tried it personally.

Well Lock 2.0 has the option for a passcode.
