Was poking around and for giggles I googled Root for LG Nitro and found this post XDA.

    LG Nitro Root - xda-developers

I have followed the instructions in this post and it does indeed work. I now have permanent root on my Nitro:D

What is the advantage of rooting this phone. Like what have you done so far because you rooted it? (Sorry I'm new to Android)

I have had no experience with Android, but do have a Linux server set up at home, running Ubuntu 8.10 LTS (I believe, hard to remember so far back), so I have a little experience with Linux.

I understand that rooting is not supported, but what can one do to improve the performance of the phone with root access that one cannot do without having root access?

    Thanks,
