I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 and after setting it up the phone already knows all my SSID I've ever used including PW's. It connected to my home wifi automatically, and after viewing available networks, it has SSID's of routers I've used on my old phone hundreds of miles away.

I am assuming this data is stored on Google servers somewhere - when you accept the message to "use google to back up my data", I assumed it was for contact details - not SSID and PWs.

Question: am I correct in assuming this data is stored by Google and not my carrier (Verizon)? Is there a comprehensive list of all the data they back up? Is this not madness?

Just went to the back up settings and it reads:

    Back up my data
Back up app data, wifi passwords, and other settings to Google servers.

Haha theres my answer written in plain text. I wonder what "other settings" it includes

Other Settings can be your Playstore apps.

I know that whenever I rebuild a ROM, flash, and then put in my Google stuff--it sets my wifi and password, soon as I open Playstore; it downloads ALL my apps that were on my phone.

    I love it.
