Phone App sometimes acting funny

Phone app is being weird sometimes. It will rarely not work if i type in a number and call it, it will close and then go back to the home screen and i will usually get a lot of drop calls. I have perfect service when i text but when i call my phone will drop to 2 bars and sometimes 1 bar. I don't know why it does this but should i get a new droid or what? Sometimes my phone will go into a dead zone with no bars for a little while and then get bars.
