so i'm gonna buy a SGS2 shortly and am wondering if there will be 'bumpers' available for it?
similar to the ones that the iphone has available.

in fact, i've seen any other phone have a bumper other than the iphone so do they even exist for other phones?

    thanks!

I'm all for Android but when it comes to cases for your phone, no other phone other then Apple has the best cases. They come in so many colors and variety with designs. It's like they have a contract with all these companies. I really wish the big name Android phones had the same love.

i think the variety that comeswith cases for the apple phones is more cos everyone and their dog has one than cos apple has any agreement with the makers.

It's easier for iPhones because each iteration is the same shape - there's a total of 5 different iPhone shapes to make for, and only maybe 2 (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4 White) of these are worth building cases for now. How many Androids are there?

    surely they could make one???
i've noticed that NO OTHER phones have this kind of bumper which is really dissapointing since its the most practical. as long as the bumper sticks out the back by 1 mm, its all you need, especially with gorilla glass finally being used in many mobiles.

here's hoping a bumper for the SGS2 is made soon...

You do realise the only reason that a phone bumper was made in the first place was cos apple screwed up in thier placement of the antenna so they had to put something between it and your hand to stop your hand absorbing all the signal.

It is a good way to protect the device, and it keeps the screen off the desk when it's face down. I don't have 100% faith in Gorilla Glass. The SGS2 is square enough for something similar to be effective.

if your lacking faith in the glass of gorilla then you need to check out some youtube vids of people running scissors, keys, rocks etc over phones with the glass of gorilla.

it depends what you want to protect.
who gives a shit about the back IMHO.

bumper would be great to a) stop the phone breaking or screen cracking if you drop it and b) raise the back AND the front off to prevent scratches etc when u put it down.

now u can go away. troll.

you can get get a rubber case and cut it to shape as bumpers are pointless to the s2

i think the bumpers that they created for the iPhone are pretty cool. the reason why they had to create them was not cool. but if i had an iPhone, it would be hard for me not to have the bumper case in my case collection for that phone. in all honestly, i'd prob have 3 cases for the iPhone 4... i'd keep a case-mate barely there case, an incase slider case, and the bumper one :)

but the bumper cases are really specifically for the iPhone not only because of the antenna problem, but also because the device is flat on both the front and back. how many other phones do you know are exactly flat on both the front and back?
theoretically, something just like it wouldn't work. but i bet you could make something very similar. i wouldn't want it for an SGS2 personally. i'll rock a case-mate barely there that i've already imported and a trusy clarivue screen protector even though it has gorilla glass. i'd kill myself if i somehow managed to scratch such a beautiful screen up

Newsflash to all those people who think Gorilla glass is indestructible. Just. Stop. Right. There. It will scratch and has scratched many many many times to many many people. Youtube videos don't mean jack. Achilles was also indestructible, except for his heels. That's why it's called scratch-RESISTANT and not PROOF.

Also, if you are going to hate Apple, try not to alienate people who are trying to come over to Android. Sometimes you wonder who is the truly stuck up fanbase.
