Help Phone coma?

I ran into a new bug today and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered it. I plugged my GNex into the charger last night before bed and my phone was still on at the time with a partial charge. I set my alarm on the phone as usual and went to sleep. This morning I woke up late and realized that my alarm did not go off. I looked at my phone and saw that it was plugged in as I left it and the LED was gently pulsing purple, but when I tried to wake it up it would not -- the screen remained blank and the LED continued to pulse. I removed and reinserted the battery and and restarted without issue.

To complicate the matter, I ran into another bit of weirdness the other day which may or may not be related. I plugged the phone in the night before, same as above, and in the morning when I tried to wake it up, it just flashed a battery symbol in the middle of the screen and would do nothing else. However, when I removed the battery and put it back in, it started as usual and showed a full charge.

I can't figure out whether it's a battery issue, a power cord issue, or something else. I do have two batteries -- the one that came with my GNex and the spare that came with the Verizon spare battery/charger kit. I'm going to put "A" and "B" stickers on them just to try to determine if there is any consistency there.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

Are you using the "stock" used cable and charger ?

I've heard rumors about cheap cables causing issues. I haven't had any but it might be worth checking for elimination purposes.

Unfortunately that is another set of variables that I will have to eliminate. The bedside charger is indeed an older, non-stock charger that I had connected directly to the phone, so I will definitely take that out of the loop. When I got the battery symbol the other day, however, my GNex was connected to the GNex accessory charger, which was in turn connected to a wall outlet via the stock charger. Technically, the phone has never been connected directly to the wall via the stock charger, so I will have to do that for a few days to see if the problem reappears. In the meantime I have labeled the batteries A and B. I'm just concerned that I may be missing a non-hardware related issue, like a system setting, but I can't think of a setting that would prevent the phone from waking. I also don't have the LED colors down yet. I'm running stock LED system software, not Light Flow or anything like that. What notifications are included under the purple LED?
